Gina is a Canberra-based designer who has been working in the ACT and surrounding areas since 1989, specializing in residential design of extensions, alterations, and new homes. Gina was originally in the Fineline Design and Drafting partnership for 10 years and then established Carmody By Design in 2000. Gina is known for her ability to integrate the old and the new, respecting the original architecture and form when needed and creating a refreshing, practical, and sustainable solution, improving thermal performance and integrating the indoors and outdoors.

Gina is a great listener, and this shows through in the success of her designs—houses for families that are easy to live in, that connect to green spaces, and are energy efficient. Small-scale residential multi-unit developments are also within her scope of projects, designing developments that provide privacy to units, integrate landscape, and provide common spaces for occupants to gather and connect.

Gina has established herself in the industry and has a broad array of consultants that she works closely with throughout the design and documentation process. Gina navigates planning and building approval processes along with her clients to prepare them with all they need for the building and construction phase. Gina has a passion for residential work and loves witnessing the change that she makes for her clients. This is her motivation—to leave people with better outcomes, better sun, more efficient floorplans, and better energy use and lifestyle.
